Well the first can be answered by explaining a few things. I started work on a story, called TransPunzel. It's what I call a Trans FairyTale. It has all the same elements you would expect from a fairytale, there's a witch, a king, a prince, and a damsel. However in this case the damsel is a transgender woman. I'm currently still working on the story, however as I began work, I started to understand why this story would be so important to the Trans Community. Recently I'd started to think about how I could use TransPunzel is a positive way to help support not only the Trans Community but also the LGBTQIA community at large.
The goal I have for the TransPunzel Foundation for 2018 is to build up a network of support and to build a network of people that will be writing blog posts, doing videos and hosting podcasts, which will help lay the groundwork for the bigger goal of raising the money needed to help Transgender Individuals get the surgeries they need, and get them the medication and hormone therapies they need, and support both financial and emotional as they go through their transition. Also I hope that The TransPunzel Foundation will be able to help LGBTQIA youth with safe houses, educational support, and help them as they figure out what their life is going to look like as they reach each of their personal goals.
This isn't going to be an easy task. However like President John F. Kennedy said as he was talking about landing a man on the moon.
"We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard; because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one we intend to win..."See I feel that there is an under representation for Transgender Individuals who are low-income, who live in areas where just coming out as a Transgender Woman, or Man could get them killed. I think that there isn't enough being done for Lower Middle Class and Low Income members of the LGBTQIA community and The TransPunzel Foundation wants to fill that gap. We are just getting started, and there will be lots of blogs post this coming year. So stay tuned as we grow, and as we get to the point we can start to help people.
I'd like to talk about our Logo just a little bit. The Lighthouse represents that we are searching, and that we are trying to light the path for others. The Rainbow represents that we are part of the grand diversity of the LGBTQIA community. So now you know.
